Oil on Canvas
20 x 24
Not For Sale
| This is the third painting in my "Ships That Never Were" series. It depicts the British, Flower Class corvette "HMS Compass Rose" protecting an allied convoy during the early years of World War II. She and her crew are the subject of Nicholas Monsarrat's finest novel: "The Cruel Sea" first published in 1951. The painting has been selected to be shown at the American Society of Marine Artists Northeast Regional Exhibit from May 2008 until January 2009. Currently it is on exhibit at its third venue, the Maine Maritime Museum, Bath, ME. |
